WILD FLOWER

I actually did this painting over a year ago but was unhappy with the background. It was a very hot coral. I reworked it and added a dark but wild sort of look. I think the whole thing came alive. ..."it's a wild thang"

FOLIAGE HUG WITH RED POT, GRAPES, AND LEMONS

This seems to be my week for reworking old paintings. I totally changed the background for this still life and feel so much better about it. Perhaps it helps to get up at 4:30 and try to use the time wisely. Maybe I'm a before dawn painter.

PRIMA BALLERINA

We have a beautiful Magnolia tree in our front yard. It's 13 years old now and each spring it's such a delight to see more blossoms than the year before. It was hard to choose which blossom to paint. They each had a personality all their own. This one reminds me of a prima ballerina in Swan Lake.

RED PLATE, PITCHER, AND PEAR

I wanted to do an interior scene and this turned out to be more of a still life. For a long time it was "very still" and I wasn't happy with it at all. I reworked it and have been pleased with the energy that finally happened.

SUNFLOWERS 1

This painting is part of a series I've done focusing on Sunflowers. I did this some time ago and it was so personal that it has been two years since I could bring myself to make it public. These flowers have volumes to say and "joy unspeakable".

POPPIES AND POMEGRANATE FLOWERS

My goal here was to do a painting in red's and greens. I arranged living Pomegranate flowers with artificial Poppies. I loved the red, green, and orange combination. There seemed to be great harmony and energy between the living and the man made. A surprise to me.

WISTERIA

Looking out my studio window in the Spring is the most glorious view of Wisteria surrounded by Loblolly Pines and vistas that are stunning. When the sun shines on it all it is absolutely sacred.

TEXAS VISTA

I don't do Plein Air painting very often. I'm not sure why, I really enjoy it when I do. This is a little painting I did at Lady Bird Johnson's Wild Flower Center.

HIDDEN PATH

This is an image I photographed (and painted later) while riding in my husbands golf cart. He was playing at "Origins," a course on the West Coast of Florida. I loved the billowing pink plumes and the invitation to follow the path into those wonderful grasses.
